Schenectady - Joseph C. Figler, Jr., 86, died at the Ellis Residential Center on Monday, January 6, 2014. Born in Glenville, Joseph had lived in Niskayuna most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a welder at General Electric in Schenectady, retiring in the early 1990's. He was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader and a former member of the Stamford Heights Fire Department. Survivors include his former spouse, Blanche Martel Figler of Schenectady; his children, Beverly A. Bradt of Gallupville, Victoria L. Walker of San Antonio, TX, Joseph C. Figler, III (Pat) of Colonie, Wayne A. Figler (Pam) of Rotterdam, Michael S. Figler of Poughkeepsie and Diane M. Hocking (Robert) of Schenectady; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Reilly & son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie on Friday after 4 p.m. A prayer service will conclude the evening at 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Park in Schenectady. For those who wish, memorial contributions to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital,262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
