Obituary of Christine D. Peters
Christine Peters, 55, of Guilderland left this world on January 13, 2025 to go home to her Lord after a courageous 4 ½ year battle with cancer. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Michael Peters, her loving son Finn, her mother Mary Jean Kolak, sister Karen (Dennis) Lane and brother Michael Kolak. She is the dear sister-in-law of Beth (Steven) Psutka, Kris (Michael) Hickey, Walter (Rebecca) Peters and Sue Ellen Peters. Christine also leaves behind five nephews, a niece and many extended family members.
Chris was born and raised in Guilderland. She was a graduate of Guilderland High School, SUNY Schenectady and SUNY Albany, where she earned her master’s degree in social work. She truly cared about people and their struggles, even from a young age, so her career helping families in crisis was a fitting one. The achievement she was most proud of, however, was being a loving wife and devoted mother to her son Finn. Family was her priority, and she was happiest when she could have a positive impact on others.
Chris found true inspiration and peace when immersed in her Catholic faith and her church community became an incredible comfort to her. She was a wonderful friend with a quick wit and terrific sense of humor! She had many special friendships that went back to her very early years, a testament to the kind of person she was. She could always make you laugh even in the toughest of times. Her legacy was one of kindness and incredible strength as she bravely battled her cancer diagnosis. She handled every hurdle with grace and her trademark sense of humor. She will be missed so very much by everyone.
A funeral mass to honor Chris’s incredible journey will be held at St. Matthews Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville on Wednesday, January 22nd at 11am. Contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her name would be deeply appreciated.
