Catherine J. Hanley Obituary

Guilderland - Catherine J. “Katie” Hanley, 64, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she was the beloved daughter of Patricia “Pat” and Laurence “Pal” Hanley.


Katie graduated from Guilderland High School in 1978. She worked as a supervisor for many years for Eagle Press and Newkirk Printing, where she earned the affection and respect of her bosses and coworkers. After leaving the printing business, Katie successfully completed Rivers Dealer Academy and became a dealer at Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady until 2017.


Katie was an avid crafter- sewing blankets, creating flower centerpieces and making handmade Christmas gifts for her family and friends. She was a devoted Dollar Tree shopper and never passed up a trip to Wegman’s.


There was no one who didn’t love Katie. She was beloved by her many devoted cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents and dear friend, Sister Vivian Wooding, O. Carm, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her uncle Edmund Hanley (Barbara), aunt Virginia Lorini (late Eugene) and many cousins.


Friends and family may call from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 20 at Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211. Internment will immediately follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205.


Donations to honor Katie’s memory may be made to Christ Our Light Rosary Society, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211 or to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
