Guilderland- Peter G. McGuire, 61, passed away on September 10th after a brief illness, surrounded by loving family. Peter was born and raised in Guilderland, NY. Until his retirement, he worked for the NY State Department of Education as the Supervisor of Test Distribution. He will be missed by many and remembered for his lively humor, generous heart, and his smile. He loved music and was always one to dance. An avid Dead Head, he attended many legendary shows of the band and other performers. From the Fourth of July Fireworks to Halloween bonfires, Pete cherished his neighbors and community of friends in Westmere and beyond.

Peter was the son of the late Margaret and John Paul McGuire II. He is survived by his brothers John Paul McGuire III ( Sheila McGuire), and Larry McGuire and sisters Mary Vadnais ( Norman Vadnais), Kathy McGuire, and Amy McGuire, and his niece and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret Anne and sister-in-law, Barbara.

In place of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's honor to Family Promise of the Capital Region 738 New Scotland Ave, Albany, NY 12208.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024 at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Guilderland. Friends may visit with Peter’s family Friday from 9-10 a.m., prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
