Loudonville - Thomas R Blau, 81, husband of the late Rosary (Pat) Carcia Blau, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 20, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Albany on December 8, 1942, Thomas was a life long resident of Albany and is one of nine siblings.
He attended Phillip Schuyler High School and then served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. After the war, Thomas held many jobs in Albany until he retired from WNYT, Channel 13.
Thomas is survived by his three children, Patricia Gaston (John), James Blau and Amy Gallacchi. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Muzio, Carolyn McCulloch (Shawn), Joshua Gallacchi (Kelly) and Jessica Gallacchi. and brothers, James "Mikey" Blau (Catherine) and Rick Stegmann (Nina). He is also survived by nine cherished great grandchildren, sisters’ in law, Mary. Genovesi (Phillip), Josephine Rowe and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his family, Thomas loved the New York Yankees, his girlfriend Carol Colletti and John Wayne movies, especially the movie, “The Quiet Man”.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumite Rd., Loudonville on Thursday, May 30 at 10 AM, followed by interment at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
The family would like to thank family and friends for their support and visits during Thomas’ time in hospice and Community Hospice for their care and attention.
As a veteran, Thomas was a passionate supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and any donations made in his name would be greatly appreciated.
