Obituary of Maria S. Sypek

Maria S. Sypek, 92 of Red Hook, NY passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024.  She was born February 22, 1932 in Plawno, Poland to Stanislaw and Maria Banaszkiewicz.  She worked as an elementary school teacher in Czestochowa, Poland until immigrating to the United States in 1966 with her family.  Maria was a wonderful woman who loved her family and friends, especially adoring her two grandsons, Paul and Alex.  She was a master cook using ingredients from her backyard garden and favorite local farm stand where she was known to be an apple connoisseur.

Maria was predeceased by her son, John, and is survived by her loving daughter in-law, Dorota, as well as her two grandsons.  She is deeply missed by her family and surrounding community.

 Funeral mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook, NY on Friday, May 10th at 11 am.  Interment will be in Maria’s birth town of Plawno, Poland.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook.
