Obituary of Eugene S. Lorini

Colonie - Eugene S. "Gene" Lorini, Sr., 81, of Nina Dr. died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Albany, Gene was the son of the late Mary Gabriel and Pasquale Lorini and had been a lifelong resident of Colonie. He was a graduate of Roessleville High School in Colonie and Siena College. While at Siena he entered the ROTC program and then served in the United States Army as a 1st Lt in the Field Artillery at Okinawa. For 30 years, he was the owner of E. Lorini Home Modernization and he remained active with the company even after his retirement. Gene was a member of the Colonie Elks and a lifetime member of the former Our Lady of Mercy Church in Colonie. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia "Ginger" Champlin Lorini. He was the father of Mary Ellen Lorini (Tim Knapik) of Colonie, Eugene Lorini, Jr. (Mary Jo) of Albany and Patrick Lorini (Kim) of Colonie; grandfather of Matthew Eugene, Eugene Raymond, Mary Elizabeth and Elizabeth Virginia Lorini; brother of Dolores Iacabucci (Joseph) of Colonie and the late Ronald and Joyce Lorini and Anthony Lorini; brother-in-law of Mary Hoogkamp, Marilyn Frank and the late Ellen Sabott, Patricia and Pal Hanley, Vern F. Champlin, Jr. and Al Hoogkamp. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral 9:00 o'clock Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie and at 10:00 o'clock at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
