Loudonville - Harriet J. VanDerVolgen, 92, formerly of Wedgewood Drive died Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Our Lady of Hope Residence in Latham. Born September 11, 1920 in Buffalo, she lived for many years in the Albany area. She worked in Sales at Montgomery Wards, Albany Public Markets and Sears before retiring. Harriet enjoyed playing cards and bingo at the H.B. Kuhn Senior Center in Colonie and at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Latham. Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. VanDerVolgen, Sr.; her grandson, Josh Brittell; and her son-in-law, Robert Brittell. Survivors include her children, Susan VanDerVolgen, Charles VanDerVolgen (Maria Greco) and Charlotte Lipe (Jim); grandchildren, Todd Brittell (Janice), Adam Brittell (Debbie). Also, William VanDerVolgen (Alison), Carl VanDerVolgen, Katelyn Cooper (Tim) and their mother, Deborah VanDerVolgen, Annalisa Greco, Andrea Jamieson (Scott) and David Greco (Stacy); great-grandchildren, Robert Brittell, Josh Brittell, Giovanni Greco, Sophie VanDerVolgen and a soon to be born great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Leona Tripp; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at 11:00 o'clock Friday morning in the Chapel at the Our Lady of Hope Residence, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham. Harriet's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the sisters, nurses and nursing assistants at the Our Lady of Hope Residence during the past three years of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
