Colonie - Elaine G Mecier 96 of Our Lady of Mercy Care Center passed away Sunday February 25, 2024 at St Peters Hospital in Albany. Born in East Greenbush on May 19, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Irene Mayhew Hanley, step daughter of the late Eugene Seeberger and wife of the late Robert C. Mecier. She graduated from Columbia High School in East Greenbush in 1945. She was an active member of the former Our Lady of Mercy Eucharistic Ministry and various other ministries, participated in many church functions and events and made visitations to hospitals, nursing homes and home bound people bringing them communion and just spending time with them for 33 years. She was a member of The Rosary Society and received The Christian Service Award in 1993. She enjoyed baking, gardening, taking pictures, bowling and playing the piano. She was also an avid NY Mets fan.

She is survived by her two sons, Paul R Mecier of Cohoes and Bruce A Mecier and his wife Kathleen of Saratoga Springs; step grandchildren, Stephen and Tina Currier; and several step great-grand and great-great-grand children; her cousin, Virginia Hanson; and sister in law, Nita Newman. She was predeceased by her brother, Conrad R Newman; step grandson, Eric Currier; and her Aunt Rita Dennis.

Elaine’s funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville, NY 12211. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the church Friday from 10 am - 11 am, prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christ Our Light food pantry or to your favorite charity.
