Richard Shadick Obituary

Colonie - Richard Shadick died Monday, January 8, 2024. Born in Albany on September 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Florence Schwere and Charles Shadick. He was the beloved husband of 64 years of Margaret Newhouse Shadick. Richard was predeceased by is loving son, Jim Shadick; and siblings, Marvin, Charles, Jr., Phyllis Peterson, Florence Mignola and Ron Shadick.


Dick attended Roessleville School and then served four years in the Marine Corps, earning the rank of SGT. He was an active member the Marine Corps League and the Electric City Detachment in Schenectady. He enjoyed playing his tuba and played in the Cyprus Shriners band for 20 years. He also played with the Colonie Town band, the Memorial Concert band, Tuba Santas, Gloversville and Johnstown. He worked for the Tobin Packing Co. for 13 years and then retired from O.D. Heck in Schenectady.


In addition to his loving wife, he is also survived by his sons, Richard (Patti), Dan and Chris Shadick; grandsons, Joshua Shadick, Nickolas Shadick and Steven Shadick.; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. For those who wish, donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rock Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or 1st. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
