Albany - Patricia McDermott passed away peacefully in the early hours of November 12, 2023, after a long battle with kidney disease. She was predeceased by her parents Louise B. McDermott and Philip J. McDermott. She is survived by her siblings Michael Daggett, Suzanne McDermott (Torin Spellman), and Christopher McDermott, as well her nieces Karen Pirigyi (Thomas), Sandy Guiles (Walter), Colleen Kinley (Steven) and their children Alex, Alta, Raymond, Scott, Amanda, and Victoria.

Born on May 5, 1953, Pat was a lifelong resident of Albany, and graduated from the Milne School in 1971. She went on to attend the Junior College of Albany and received her BA in Economics from SUNY Geneseo. Pat was proud to work for the Albany County DSS for a period of time. She enjoyed listening to early rock and roll music and to books on tape, especially historical biographies. Pat was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of All Saints.

During her lifetime, Pat faced many medical challenges. She was born with congenital cataracts and endured many surgeries as a child to retain what little vision remained. She had many additional health challenges along the way, and she faced each one with determination and the same enduring spirit for which she was known.
