Obituary of Barbara Jean Fredette

Barbara Fredette of Voorheesville, age 91, passed away on October 17, 2023 at her home with her family.  Affectionately known as Aunt Bo and Nanny Bo, she is survived by her daughter Theresa (Tess) Fredette, her son Michael Fredette, her granddaughter Megan (Adam) Stewart, her great grandchildren Addyson and Lucas Stewart, many nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Della and David Evans, her siblings Florence Fiacco, Mary Lou Hamlin, Virginia Leonardi, and Richard Evans, her husband John E. Fredette Sr. and her son John E. Fredette Jr. 

Barbara spent her professional and personal life caring for others after graduating from Albany Hospital Training for Nurses.  She was employed at Albany Medical Center and Villa Mary Immaculate nursing facility. After retiring she transitioned into home health care. 
Barbara had a devilish sense of humor and was always game for fun and laughter.  She loved dancing, camping at Schroon Lake, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and many of her homemade gifts found their way under a tree. She loved cooking meals for her family and spending her days with Addyson and Lucas.

She was an active member of St. Matthews Church serving in the altar rosary society years ago and recently knitting prayer shawls with fellow church members.

The family would like to send a Thank you to head nurse Sue Tokos and her staff at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Tracey McMahon for all their help during Barbara’s last few weeks.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 2 - 5 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 23rd at St. Matthew’s Church with burial following at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
