Obituary of Scott Lloyd Wheeler

Colonie - Scott Lloyd Wheeler of Colonie passed away on March 25, 2023 after a brief & courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor Scott’s legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Born in Albany on July 13, 1965 Scott is the beloved son of Laurie Ann Sanborn Wheeler of Colonie and the late Lloyd Edgar Wheeler.  Scott graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1984, and went on to study at Hudson Valley Community College & Siena College.  Scott attained his Commercial Drivers License - CDL.  Scott began his career in banking, and spent the majority of his career in sales/freight transport sales.

Scott was a long-time member of the Masonic Evening Star Lodge #75 in Latham.  He was also a member of Victory Church in Colonie.  He loved his lodge brothers and his church friends and always had a smile and a joke for anyone he met.  Scott was an active member of the Fuller Road Fire Department in his youth and remained a social member throughout his life.  Scott enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, welding, motorcycles, skiing & camping with family and friends.  Scott’s sense of humor and joy of life was contagious to everyone he met.  A stranger was just a friend that he hadn’t met yet.

Scott was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Edgar Wheeler; his maternal grandmother, Marion W. Bonett Streeter; maternal grandfather, Lewis J. Streeter; paternal grandmother, Dorothy E. Muhlig Wheeler; and paternal grandfather, Horace Caleb Wheeler.

Scott is survived by his mother, Laurie Wheeler; fiancé, Lisa Brock; sister, Lynn Wheeler Romania; brother-in-law, Rudi Romania; nieces, Grace Romania, Brooke Romania, Laura Romania and Claire Romania; close friends, Kenneth Dott, Katrina Kardos Dott, Molly Sherwin and David Barnett.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie  on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4 - 7 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Church of Colonie, 1312 Central Avenue, Colonie, NY 12205.  Contributions in Scott’s memory can be made to the Masonic Evening Star Lodge #75, 206 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110.
