Obituary of John Scott Hatala
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Saturday, January 14th, John Scott Hatala of Valatia N.Y. passed away at fifty-eight years old after a courageous battle with lung disease. He was known to friends and associates as John or Johnny and to his family as Scott. John was a high school graduate of Clayton A. Bouton in Voorheesville N.Y..
Survived by his brother, Joseph M. Hatala Jr. of Guilderland N.Y. and sister, Nancy A. (Hatala) O’Donnell of Sanford N.C.; his nephews, Joshua W. O’Donnell of Sanford N.C. and Ethan P. O’Donnell of Zebulon N.C.. John was predeceased by his parents, Joseph M. Hatala Sr. and Beverly J. (Brault) Kallner.
He was an accomplished contractor whose work has been highlighted in several magazines and brochures. He was very good with his hands and anything he built or repaired was done with great ability and skill. He had a special talent that will never be replaced.
John will be remembered for his kind heart, his silly sense of humor, and love of old music and western movies. John could have a good time most anywhere (especially fishing) and his laughter could be heard every day.
Per John’s wishes, the celebration of his life will be done privately. If you care to, please make a donation to the American Lung Association.
A special thanks to Alicia Piel, a longtime friend and girlfriend for her understanding, love and caring of our dear brother.
John, you will be dearly missed.
