NEW SALEM - Marian Grippin Countryman died October 13, 2013 at the Baptist Health Nursing Rehab Center of Scotia. Born in Binghamton, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Harriet Grippin and had lived in New Salem with her late husband, Edward, since 1943. She was employed in the medical insurance field for more than 25 years, retiring in 1982. Marian was the mother of Bruce Countryman (M. Lynn) of Knox and Bonnie (John) Griffin of New Salem. She was the sister of Harold B. Grippin of East Berne, Gerald W. Grippin of Delmar, Gordon B. Grippin of Athens and Carol Wengenack (Edward) Of Howes Cave. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew (Amy) and Katelyn (Donnie) Countryman and Cynthia and Gregory Griffin.; one great-grandchild, Bryce Countryman, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 9 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. For those who desire, contributions to the New Scotland Senior Citizens would be appreciated.
