Obituary of Gary Michael Ardito

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Altamont - Gary Ardito died suddenly of heart failure on Friday doing the thing he loved most:  being a father.  Born in New Jersey, he spent most of his youth in Florida.  Gary attended the University of Miami prior to embarking on a career in the field of computer science and information technology.  His career in project management, sales support and team building brought him to locations throughout the U.S. and Europe.  When he decided to make Altamont his home, it was to be with his boys.

Gary was an avid reader and sports fan, but his greatest passion was time spent raising his sons, Michael and Christopher:  watching their competitions,  applauding their victories, sharing their defeats, volunteering his talents to their coaches, and, yes, talking about them.   You could always find Gary at a football field, swimming pool, soccer field, track meet, baseball field, basketball court or lacrosse field.  When the boys settled mainly on swimming and football, Gary quickly became a volunteer asset to their coaches.  Whether filming, timing a swim race or providing stats, Gary was always the coach’s go-to-guy.

But Gary’s kindness wasn’t limited to his sons.  It extended to their friends.  He was known for filling his car with athletes that needed a ride, a place to hangout, to sleep or have a meal.

Gary truly gave new meaning to the word “family”.  Although no longer married, Gary and Nicole Harrington always remained loyally dedicated to each other.  Gary’s devotion to Nicole, John and Kati and the rest of their extended family, was extraordinary.

Gary is survived by his sons, Michael and Christopher Ardito, mother, Alma Ardito, his father Roy Stampfle, his brother Sean Ardito-Stampfle, Sean’s wife Jeanne Richter and their daughters Ciera Richter and Ashley Ardito.
