Obituary of Marvin R. Sample

East Berne - Marvin R. Sample, 83, of East Berne died Monday, July 11, 2022 at his residence.  Born in Albany, Marvin was the son of the late Stanley and Lulu Schaffer Sample.  He had lived in East Berne for the past 50 years.  Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1962-1964 and worked for more than 25 years at the Town of Berne Highway Department.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flea markets, garage sales and collecting military memorabilia.

Marvin was the husband of the late Victoria Sample; father of Tracy Bassler (Paul) of East Berne, Wendy Sample of Berne and Robin Weidman (Edward) of Westerlo; grandfather of Kenneth Pappalau (Brittany), Matthew Steadman, Tyler Weidman and Edward Weidman, Jr.; great-grandfather of Brayden Steadman; and uncle to several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by three sisters and six brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 9 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 9 - 11 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Colonie.  For those who wish, memorial donations to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 would be appreciated.
