Albany - Anthony J. George, 98 of Albany, passed away Nov. 24, 2021. He was born Oct. 26, 1923, to the late Angelo and Josephine Morrell George. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Martha, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by daughters Barbara (William) Korn, Irene Landi, and Patricia (Gregory) Hamilton, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister, Mary LaBarre of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
A World War II veteran, he served as a staff sergeant in the Army-Air Force working as an airplane and engine mechanic.
Tony was what people mean when they say “salt of the earth”. He was kind and supportive of the women in his life, his mother, wife, and daughters. He was frugal and hard working. He enjoyed his vegetable garden and was always willing to share with his family and neighbors. One neighbor commented that “he was about the best gardener since God made Eden”.
Anthony's funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville. Entombment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the church Monday morning from 9 - 10 a.m., prior to the mass.
