Obituary of Barbara L. VanZetten

New Scotland – Barbara Poole Van Zetten, 94, died Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. Born in Athens, Barbara had lived in New Scotland for most of her life. She was an active member of the New Scotland Presbyterian Church, the New Scotland Seniors, the New Salem Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Home Bureau and the Women’s Guild. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed genealogy and always enjoyed time with her family. Barbara was the wife of the late Donald Sutton and Peter Van Zetten; mother of Donna L. Sutton (Frank Lawyer) and Terry Sutton (Lynn); grandmother of Carl Burnham (Eva), Peter Ploof, Linda Carmody (Brian), Devin Sutton and Paige Sutton; great-grandmother of Timothy Burnham; and sister of Alton Poole (Betty Jean) and the late George Poole, James Poole, Elaine Sanson and Lauren Poole. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the New Scotland Presbyterian Church, 2010 New Scotland Rd., Slingerlands, NY 12159. Burial will be in the New Scotland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday.
