Cookeville,Tennessee - A celebration of life gathering for Mr. John "Jack" William Carkner, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, November 20th, 2021 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Reilly and Son Funeral Home, Colonie.
Mr. Carkner passed away on Friday October 22, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 15, 1936 in Albany, NY to the late John William and Effie Mae VanValkenburgh Carkner.
He served his country as a member of the US Navy.
Jack was employed as a supervisor with Mobil Oil Corporation in Albany, NY for over 30 years. He was friendly and outgoing, and enjoyed his Corvette, bowling and gardening. He was a good friend and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Carkner is survived by his wife of 34 years, Anne Carkner; daughters, Karen (Leon) Schumacher, Lori (Jeff) Austin and Jacki (Jed) York, son, John W. (Tania) Carkner, III, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and by his sister Dorothea Farnam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Patricia Carkner; and by sisters, Marian Stipe, Elizabeth White and Joane Beals.
