Obituary of Mary Roberta Teal

Melbourne, FL - On Sunday, October 17, 2021, Mary Roberta Teal passed peacefully at home into the hands of God at age 98. Mary was born in Summerville, MA on October 3, 1923 to the late Mary Michna and the late Robert Dudley. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Edwin Teal, after being happily married for more than 35 years. Mary is survived by all 6 of her children: William Teal (Linda) from North Carolina; Roberta Mathieson from Maryland; Patricia Leonard (Charles) from Florida; Joseph Teal from Colonie; Joyce Bertsch (Lynn) from Schenectady; and Yvonne Beyer-Teal from Ballston Spa. She was also blessed with 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Some of her fondest memories were having her family around her at annual reunions, holidays, and birthday parties.
Throughout her life, besides being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary also worked as a secretary, a keypunch operator at the NYS Departments of Tax and Motor Vehicles, and finally retired as a food service worker at her alma mater, Albany High School. Blessed Sacrament Church and the VFW WF Wigand Post 8444 ladies auxiliary, of which she was an officer, both played an important part of Mary’s early years. She enjoyed reading, bingo, card games with dear friends, word searches, crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, playing Scrabble, casinos, traveling, and cruising with her family.
Calling hours will be Sunday, October 24 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Reilly and Son Funeral Home, Colonie. A funeral mass will be held Monday, October 25 at 9:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Avenue, Albany, followed by interment in Memory Gardens Cemetery and Memorial Park.
