Obituary of Nancy Bainbridge White

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Voorheesville - Nancy Bainbridge White, 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Born on March 4, 1946 in Troy, she was the daughter of the late William and Gladys (Hunt) Bainbridge. She grew up in Latham and graduated from Shaker High School. There she met her high school sweetheart, Ronald K. White. Nancy followed Ronnie to SUNY Brockport; they both graduated from the school, he in 1966 and she in 1968. They were married during her college junior year on January 28, 1967. As an elementary education teacher, she taught in Vestal Central School District and returned to the area to substitute teach at Voorheesville Central School District for eight years. She also coordinated the preschool program at the First United Methodist Church in Voorheesville. In addition, she taught at Maria College Campus School. Nancy finished her teaching career at Albany Academy for Girls, where she spent 23 years before retiring in 2008. While at Albany Academy for Girls, she completed her master's degree in education at the College of St. Rose. While teaching was her profession, it was not her identity -- being a wife and mother were. Her two sons, Jayson and Josh, were her greatest accomplishments in her life and were reflected in the love she had for her grandchildren, Rylee, Braden and Bryar. The joy of her life in the past 10 years was to watch their accomplishments academically and on the athletic fields. Besides her husband, Nancy is survived by her loving children, Jayson R. (Tricia) White of Burnt Hills and Joshua R. (Kristy Kruse) White of Latham; her five grandchildren, Rylee J. White, Braden M. and Bryar M. White, Donald P. and Haleigh A. Letendre; nephew Peter Kelsey of Loudonville; and niece Beth Hicks of Duanesburg. Nancy had a lifelong loving friendship with her college roommate Nancy (Cheeks) Stone and Barbara Turner, both of whom supported her to the end of her life on Earth. She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Kelsey and Lois McKay Patzarian. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at the First United Methodist Church, 68 Maple Avenue, Voorheesville. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank her caregivers over the past decade: Dr Sarah Vogel at Landmark; Dialysis Clinic Inc. - Mt. Hope location; Dr. Swati Mehta; DCI nurses Jacqueline, Diana and Vanessa; Albany Regional Kidney Center nurses Alex and Dana; and Dr. Rahim Dhanani. The family asks that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Sunday School program in lieu of flowers.
