Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Colonie - Dorothy June Klopfer Everin, 93, a life-long resident of West Albany, died peacefully on May 15, 2021 at her home in Colonie, NY. She was born June 30, 1927, the daughter of the late William Lawrence Klopfer and Florence Caroline (Kloss) Klopfer and sister of the late William J. Klopfer.
A 1945 graduate of Albany High School, she married James E. Everin in Albany on October 23, 1948. Until Jim's passing in 2001, together they enjoyed family gatherings with children and grandchildren, travelling throughout the United States, cheering for the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs, and activities with and in support of the Destroyers Escort Sailors Association (DESA).
After raising their three children Dorothy worked at WaldenBooks and, for 15 years, at H&R Block. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Albany and, later, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Loudonville.
Dorothy will be remembered for her outstanding apple pies, her abundant flower gardens, her devotion to family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her abiding faith and her readily shared warm smile.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of 52 years of the late James Edward Everin, the loving mother of Carol (Michael) Gerrish of Glenmont, June (Richard) Clark of Feeding Hills, MA, and William (Dorothy Ebersole) of Ann Arbor, MI. She was adored by her grandchildren Robert (Ashley) Gerrish of Lyndonville, VT, Lianna (Shaun Endres) Gerrish of Fort Collins, CO, Elizabeth Clark of Sinking Spring, PA, Martin (Kara) Everin of Canton, MI, Amy (Anthony) Ravenga of Ypsilanti, MI and great-grandchildren Isabelle and Ellenor Gerrish, Darren and Betty Everin, Harper and Hendrix Ravenga.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dorothy’s funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Chapel, 303 Sand Creek Rd., Colonie. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
The family extends its thanks to the compassionate nurses and workers of St. Peter's Hospital and the caring staff of Community Hospice for enabling Dorothy to realize her desire to pass peacefully from this life at her home, surrounded by her loving family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that Dorothy’s friends share the kindness that she embodied.
