Bethlehem - Mildred H. Farancz, 87, wife of the late Walter Farancz, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Delmar, NY on July 3, 2013. Mildred was born on July 17, 1925 in New York City, the daughter of the late Joseph C. Miller and Emma Bloomer Miller. She was raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY and lived there until December 2007 when she entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Mildred attended schools in Queens, NY graduating from St. Agnes Academic High School in College Point, NY. She worked for many years as a telephone operator for A T & T and later for Rudel Machinery Company in Manhattan. An avid bowler, she belonged to many leagues and enjoyed the sport well into her later years. She was also involved in a community watch group in Jackson Heights and loved the neighborhood in which she lived. Mildred is survived by her nieces Katherine B. (Calvin) Schneider of Neshkoro, Wisconsin, Theresa Chavez of Belle Harbor, New York, Mildred (Timothy) Selby of Slingerlands, New York and brother-in-law Daniel A. Buechs of Slingerlands, New York, She is also survived by her great-nephews Sean (Pamela) Chavez of Temecula, California, Patrick Selby of New York City, New York, Robert Selby of Buffalo, New York, a great-great nephew Logan Chavez and a great-great niece Alexa Chavez. Her beloved sister, Florence M. Buechs, preceded her in death. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew's Church, Voorheesville, NY on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island, NY. There will be no calling hours. The family has requested that those who wish may make a contribution to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
