The Villages, FL - Leland Gene “Skip” Jackson, 76, of The Villages, FL passed away on December 28, 2020 to join his late wife and angel in heaven. Skip was born and raised in Albany, NY area. Skip was married to the late Sharon Chartres Jackson of Troy, NY and celebrated 51 years of marriage before her passing. Skip and Sharon resided in Voorheesville, NY before moving to The Villages in 2012.
After graduating from Voorheesville High School, he was employed by The NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. Skip was active in the community. Past President of the Kiwanis Club of New Scotland, coached girls softball and boys baseball and T-ball commissioner for the Kiwanis Club, sang with the Folk Group at St. Matthew’s RC Church and the Salem Hillbillies and Friends band. Supported his wife with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and help make quilts donated to St. Catherine’s Children’s Home in Albany, NY. Skip was always present at his children’s school performances and activities as well as those of friend’s children. Skip was also host dad of two foreign exchange students from Japan.
Skip is survived by his three children: Dianne (James) Zielinski, Joseph (Holly Rummel) Jackson, Daniel (Michelle Breton) Jackson. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Justin and Ryan Zielinski, Garrett and Drew Jackson, Steven, Brittany, Christopher, Lydia, Joseph and Antoinette Jackson, five great grandchildren Ethan, Sage, Sawyer, Ava and Rhyland. Skip is also survived by a bonus daughters Jeannine (Arthur) Brearton and Robin Jackson, two brother’s and a sister and several nieces and nephews. Skip was predeceased by his first great grandson Logan Jackson and his brother Jeffry Jackson.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that any donations be made to a charity of your choice.
