Obituary of Karen P. Cornwell

Loudonville-

Karen Cornwell, 62 of Loudonville, passed away on September 6, 2018 after a two-year battle with colon cancer.

Born on November 3, 1955, Karen was the daughter of the late Robert and Betty Maloney.  She grew up in Wynantskill, attended Catholic Central High School, and received her Bachelor Degree in Clinical Dietetics from the University of Connecticut.

Karen was employed by the New York State Department of Health for most of her career, retiring in 2015. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, spending her winters in Bonita Springs, Florida, golfing with her girlfriends, playing card games, attending Syracuse basketball games, cooking, taking trips to Seabrook and the Jersey shore, reading, and helping her husband and daughter with their businesses.

Karen was a wonderful mother, wife and friend.  Sincerity and integrity were her mantra, and those characteristics were how she lived and conducted her work and personal life.

To honor Karen, she asks that you choose to operate each day with humbleness, empathy and grace. She also asks you to enjoy your life and live it to the fullest.

She is survived by her husband Gary of 40 years, daughters, Trisha and Traci, brother Robert and his wife Patty, sister-in-law Lynne Long and her husband Mike, brother in law Warren Cornwell, and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.

Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 42 Brookside Ave., Wynantskill, NY.  All other services will be private at the convenience of the family.
