Obituary of Nils H. Hockeson

Colonie - Nils H. Hockeson, Jr., 61, of Colonie died Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.  Born in Albany, Nils was a lifelong area resident.  He was employed by Albany County and then for 30 years with New York State, working at the Department of Transportation, Information Technology and then retiring from the Tax and Finance Department in 2015.  Nils enjoyed family gatherings and loved sports.  He was a member of the Sunset Lanes Bowling League and was a coach for Colonie CYC Basketball and Colonie Softball.
    Nils was the father of Traci Hockeson and Kristen Holland; son of Patricia McDonald and the late Nils Hockeson, Sr.; brother of Linda Pacucci; husband of Carol Hockeson; and grandfather of Gregory and Jennifer Holland.  He is also survived by his nephew, Kenny Hockeson, several other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friend, Stephen McGough.
    A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville.  Relatives and friends are invited and may also call Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie.  Nils’ family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Murtaza Singaporawala and the staff at St. Peter’s for the care given to him.  For those who wish, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Ln, Latham, NY 12110 would be appreciated.
