Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Guilderland - Thomas Henry LeClair, son of Harriet Desormeau LeClair and Joseph J. LeClair, passed away on Saturday, March 25, surrounded by those who loved him. Raised in Waterford and Cohoes, NY, Tom attended Cohoes High School and Hudson Valley Community College. After working for GE Silicone and then running his own business as a television technician, Tom transitioned to the field of education. For more than 24 years, he worked full-time as a media specialist for both Albany Educational Television and the Guilderland Central School District. The most important person in Tom’s life, his personal pride and joy, was his son Alexander Harris LeClair. From quick road trips to Stewarts and Paisano’s, to long father/son trips down to Cape Kennedy and the Everglades, to daily chats about current events and the stock market…the two shared a deep loving bond that was admired by all who knew them. Tom was truly an amazing father. Besides being passionate about “his boy,” Tom loved antique cars, woodworking, his 4 ½ acres, and current events. There was nothing that made Tom happier than being outside on a warm sunny day, walking around his yard, and sitting outside reading his newspaper. In addition to his son Alex (Samantha), Tom is survived by his wife Susan, whom he met when they were both working together on a Schenectady Light Opera production in 1976. Tom is also survived by his brother, Ed LeClair (Kristina), sister Denise LeClair (Dan Kelly), and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville from 5 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. If desired, donations may be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (1317 King Street Alexandria, VA 22314) or online at curemeso.org through the tribute wall.
