In the late 60’s I was a young attorney in the Office of Contracts and Liens in the Department of Law, fresh out of law school. I met Charlie then. He became my go-to guy at the Department from the minute he welcomed me, and supported me throughout the entire time I was there. Charlie was both a great mentor and a better friend. He was always helpful, and saved me from many mistakes during my early days in that office. More than that, Charlie was a good friend, with a great sense of humor. He always had a little joke, a kind comment, or an interesting story to tell. I remember hearing about his times on submarines during the war, and was very impressed with what that experience must have been like. He made my years in the Department of Law most enjoyable, both professionally and personally.
I was sorry to hear of his passing. He will be remembered as a very special person. My wife, Suzanne, and I send all of his family our condolences and warmest thoughts.
