Clifton Park - Susan VanDerVolgen Brittell, 64, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Buffalo, Susan was the daughter of the late Charles and Harriet (Wilhelm) VanDerVolgen and was a graduate of South Colonie High School. She had lived for most of her life in the Colonie area. She worked as a Salesperson at various retail locations. Susan loved and adored her children and three grandchildren. Susan was the wife of the late Robert Brittell; mother of Todd Brittell (Janice) of Delmar, Adam Brittell (Deborah) of Clifton Park and the late Josh Brittell; grandmother of Robert, Joshua and Thomas Brittell; sister of Charles VanDerVolgen (Maria) and Charlotte Lipe (Jim); and niece of Leona Tripp. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit with Susan's family Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie. For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Northeast Kidney Foundation, 99 Troy Rd., East Greenbush, NY 12061 or the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 would be appreciated.
