Obituary of Rita L. Flasser

Tampa, FL - Rita Parry Flasser, 98, died Monday, August 17, 2015. Born in Albany, Rita had lived in Colonie for many years before moving to Tampa in 1997. She was a homemaker for most of her life and also worked at Albany Medical Center and the Bowler’s Club in Latham. Rita enjoyed bowling, dancing, family vacations and cruises and camping with her family. She was a member of the Colonie Elks Ladies Auxilary and a former Treasurer of the Pins and Needles Bowling League at Redwood Lanes in Colonie. Rita was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Harry J. Flasser. He died in 1984 after 45 years of marriage. She is also predeceased by her second husband, Anthony VanDetta and her sister, Edna Parry. Survivors include a son, John J. Flasser, Sr. (Peggy)) of Ballston Spa; a daughter, Carol Gries (Tom) of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, John “Jay” Flasser, Jr. of Pheonix, AZ, Michael Flasser of Gansevoort, Jim Flasser of Ballston Spa, Teressa Watts (Mark) of Orlando and Heather Prince (Chuck) of Thomasville, GA; and great-grandchildren, Desiree, Jacob and John Michael “Gus” Flasser and Rylin and Tori Hedgecock. Funeral 8:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and at 9:00 o’clcok at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
