Obituary of Katharine H. Brady

Colonie -Katharine Helen Houghtaling Brady, 82, of Linton Ave. died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at her home. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Ruhl and John Houghtaling. She lived most of her life in Colonie, spending several of the past years as a resident of the Beltrone Living Center. Katharine was employed as a Secretary, retiring from Montgomery Wards in Colonie. She was a member of the National Legal Secretaries Association, Zonta International and the Beltrone Singers. She was a former President of the Beltrone Living Center Residents Association. A tireless volunteer, Katharine dedicated much of her time to the American Cancer Society. She married her late husband, Edward P. Brady on April 16, 1949. He predeceased her on December 16, 2003. Katharine was the mother of Patricia A. Brady of Colonie and Barbara H. Brady Kinnicutt (Kevin) of Menands; grandmother of Allyson Tallman (David Gordon), Amanda Francesconi (Anthony), Sara Kinnicutt, Andrew Kinnicutt and Matthew Kinnicutt; great-grandmother of Victoria Tallman and Elijah Gordon; sister of the late John Houghtaling and Margaret Kalmes; sister-in-law of Dolores Houghtaling, William A. Brady (Janet) and the late William Kalmes. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ Our Light, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville.
