Colonie - Louis F. Diffenback, 77, of Lishakill Road died Monday, May 28, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born April 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Theresa (Navilia) Dieffenbach and Louis P. Dieffenbach, and a lifelong resident of Colonie. He attended Christian Brothers Academy and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a mason, eventually bringing his son, Dan, into the masonry business. He was a communicant of the Church of St. Clare in Colonie. A loving, caring and strong husband, father and grandfather, he was as much a best pal to his family, and loyal friend to many. He was a great cook. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed Yankees baseball and harness racing, and owned several horses over the years with dear friends/partners, including his daughter Lisa. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Jean M. Diffenback. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Joyce (Finkle) Diffenback; son Daniel (Tricia) Diffenbach; daughters Lisa Diffenback, Dawn (Gregg) Giles, his wife's children Yvonne and George; grandchildren Gigi Diffenback; Cole, Daniella and Trevor Diffenbach, and step-grandchildren Nelson, Jenna and Chelsie. Also survived by several in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, including special cousins Barbara and Chris Armstrong. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 o'clock Friday morning at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Relatives and friends may also call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie Friday morning from 8:30 -10:00, prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute to Colonie EMS Department/Midway Fire Department.
