Obituary of Joseph P. Pezzula

COLONIE - Joseph P. Pezzula, 95, formerly of Louis Dr. died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Teresian House Nursing Home in Albany. Born in Albany, Joseph had lived in Colonie since 1969. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He worked for William Press in Menands, retiring in 1985. Joe was an avid golfer, a member of the 63rd Infantry Association, the Fort Crailo Post #471, and he played Clarinet in the Yankee Doodle Marching Band, the Albany Senior's Orchestra and Tony's Aristocrats. Joseph was the husband of the late Catherine Fagan Pezzula and Rose D'Augustine Pezzula; father of Madeline Okesson of Colonie, Joseph P. Pezzula, Jr. (Kathy) of Guilderland and Vincent F. Bonacker (Rose Marie) of Santa Ana, CA; grandfather of William Okesson, III (Kristin), Mark Okesson, Peggy Okesson Clark, Stacie B. Camberos (Jose), Laura Bonacker, Katie Pezzula Warren (Ryan), Kerry A. Bonacker and Jennifer Pezzula Puchlopek (Bryan); brother of Alice P. Scialdone of Rochester and the late Ralph, Andrew, Armand, Sam, Anthony and Louis Pezzula. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral 9:00 o'clock Tuesday morning from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and at 10:00 o'clock at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville. Burial will be in the Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Joe's family would like to extend a special thank you to Joyce Chambers and more recently, the Teresian House Nursing Home for the exceptional care given to him over the past few years.
