Obituary of Jane E. Welch

Latham - Jane Conway Welch, 89, formerly of Latham, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in Queen Creek, AZ. For over 50 years, Jane was the owner of the Conway Sisters Dance Studio in Latham, a business she started with her sister Gloria in 1940. Many of her students went on to careers on Broadway and on International Tours. In her younger years, Jane performed with many famous dancers, including Ray Bolger. In addition to the dance studio, Jane owned the Conway Gymnastics Center, where she coached the renowned Jamar Gymnastics Team that won several local and state competitions. Jane was the wife of the late Bernard F. Welch; mother of Peter F. Welch of New York City and Wendy Fant of Gilbert, AZ; grandmother of Amber L. Fant, Thomas E. Fant and Jason B. Fant; and sister of the late Jack Conway, William Conway, Albert Conway, Gloria Sloan and Robert Conway. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral 9:00 o'clock Thursday morning from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and at 10:00 o'clock at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham.
