Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bethlehem - Ann Suderley Ten Eyck of Slingerlands, NY, died peacefully in her sleep on October 15, 2011 at the age of 97. Ann was born on February 20, 1914 in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late John (Jack) and Helen Suderley and sister of the late Frank Suderely. Ann was raised in Coeymans, NY, attended the St. Agnes School in Loudonville and following graduation, attended Wildwood College in Pennsylvania. Ann was the devoted wife of the late Peter G.D. Ten Eyck and spent much of their life together living on the Ten Eyck family farm, Indian Ladder Farms in Voorheesville, NY, where they raised their three children. She is survived by her daughter Gerritje (Garry) Henault and her companion, Richard W. Bromley; son Peter G. Ten Eyck II and his wife Rose-Marie Weber Ten Eyck; and son John S. Ten Eyck and his wife Sally M. Ten Eyck. Ann, the matriarch of the Ten Eyck clan, had a great love of family. Known affectionately by all of her 23 grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Gaga", she took great joy in spending time with them. She is survived by her grandchildren Margaret Henault Papadakis (Yannis), Peter Henault (Elena), Laura Ten Eyck (Dietrich Gehring), Peter G. Ten Eyck III (Kimberly), Elizabeth Ten Eyck Mitchell (Greg), Jennifer Ten Eyck Scheesley (Ray), Rebecca Ten Eyck Kimberly (Todd) and Melissa Ten Eyck Hall (Christopher); her great grandchildren Ivan Henault, Arianna Papadakus, Wolfgang Gehring, Emily, Morgan and Taylor Ten Eyck, Gretchen and Kate Mitchell, Ray, Daniel and John Scheesley, Ian and Ella Kimberly, Connor and Griffin Hall; her nieces, Helen Harris and Ann Rooney; and her nephew, John Suderley. Ann was very generous with her time and resources, volunteering at the Albany Hospital and serving as a member of the Junior League of Albany. When living at Indian Ladder Farms, she hosted for several decades an annual Christmas Party for farm employees and their families. Ann loved animals, especially dogs, and once raised a large litter of Great Dane puppies. She enjoyed reading and was very skilled at knitting and needlepoint. For years many local nursing homes benefited from the warm lap blankets (referred to by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Gaga blankets) she knitted for the residents. Ann was also a long time member of The First Church in Albany. The family would like to thank the staff of The Terrace and The Village Green at Beverwyck for their incredible patience and loving care of Ann while she was a resident there. The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to First Church of Albany, 110 North Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12207. Arrangements are by the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville.
