Obituary of Audrey L. Smith

Voorheesville - Audrey Quay Smith, 78, of Voorheesville died Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born in Albany, Audrey was the daughter of the late Alice Willsey and Herschel Quay and stepdaughter of the late Wyman Osterhout. A lifelong resident of Voorheesville and graduate of Voorheesville Central High School, she had resided in her present home since 1958. Audrey worked for 20 years at Intermagnetics General in Latham, retiring 16 years ago. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Voorheesville and had been a Sunday School teacher at the church, a member of Genetaska in Voorheesville, a former Den Mother and a member of the Hudson Adirondack Daylilly and Capital District Iris Associations. Survivors include her husband, Douglas H. Smith; sons, Mark E. Smith of Slingerlands and Craig D. Smith of Voorheesville; siblings, Shirley Schenmeyer (Robert) of Voorheesville, Beverly Meade of Jordan, NY, Patricia Sweetser of Scottsdale, AZ and Lynn Sutton (Terry) of Slingerlands; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the First United Methodish Church of Voorheesville, 66 Maple Rd., Voorheesville, NY 12186. Burial will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville.
