VOORHEESVILLE - Gerald E. DeMauro, 62, of Upper Wedgewood Lane died Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center in Manhattan from complications due to his battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, Gerald was the son of Carmella Serra DeMauro and the late Vito DeMauro. A Fulbright Scholar, he received a BA from Brandeis University, a MA from Columbia University, a MA in Theology from St. Charles Borromeo and his PhD from SUNY Stony Brook. He worked as a Director of Assessment for the Departments of Education in both New York and New Jersey, worked for Educational Testing Services and was also employed as a Psychometrician for the American Institute for Research in Washington, DC. Gerald was ordained as a Deacon in 1994 and served in that capacity at St. Anne Church in Lawrenceville, NJ, St. Jame's Church in Albany, Our Lady of the Assumption in Rotterdam and more recently at St. Matthew's Church in Voorheesville. Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife, Bunny Paisley DeMauro; children, Daniella (Joshua) Alejandro of Amsterdam, Edward (Laura) DeMauro of Schenectady, Alexander DeMauro of Richmond Hill, NY and Thomas DeMauro of Voorheesville; grandchildren, Adrianna, Ian, Francisco, Matthew, Dominic, Felicity and Gabriel; and brother, Joseph (Theresa) DeMauro of Mt. Kisco, NY. Friends are invited to a Rite of Reception of Gerald's body at St. Matthew's Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville at 4:00 o'clock Thursday, August 18, 2011. Immediately following, the family will be receiving guests until 7:30 p.m. at which time there will be a Vigil of Prayer and Remembrance. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 o'clock Friday morning at St. Matthew's Church and burial will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
