Obituary of Robert W. Forrester

Voorheesville - Robert W. Forrester, 84, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Teresian House Nursing Home. Robert was born on October 5, 1926 in Buffalo, NY. In 1944 he attended Brighton High School in Rochester. During his high school years, he was involved in varsity track, basketball, baseball and swimming. He also played the trumpet in the high school band, college and the US Navy Marching Band. He graduated from Rochester University with a BA degree in 1947. After college he joined the Navy where he served as a Communications Officer and Damage Control Officer on the USS Gilbert Island (an escort carrier) thru 1954. Robert worked most of his life as an Insurance Adjuster for various Insurance Agencies throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Florida, Connecticut and Massachusetts until he retired in 1982. Robert married Marge (the former Margaret Richardson) and settled in Voorheesville, NY where they lived for 37 years. During those years they enjoyed traveling all over the United States and eating out at restaurants. They spent many summers at their camp in the Adirondacks. Robert is survived by several cousins and their families. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville.
