Obituary of Alfred J. Cionek

Guilderland - Alfred J. Cionek, Sr., 86, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. Alfred received a Bachelors degree from Siena College and a Masters degree from St. Rose and then taught Social Studies for the Greater Amsterdam School District. During World War II, he served as a Signalman in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Leah Barczak, who he married in 1950; sons, Alfred Cionek, Jr. (Debra) of South Glens Falls, Christopher Cionek of Giulderland and Peter Cionek (Maryanne) of Swampscott, MA; and grandsons, Scott Cionek and Glenn Cionek.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Guilderland. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Amsterdam.
