Voorheesville - William E. Schultz, 94, of Maple Rd. died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany. Born in Colonie, Bill was a lifelong resident of Voorheesville. He worked for more than 30 years for Verizon in Albany, retiring as a Supervisor in 1980. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II, was a member of the Voorheesville American Legion and a former member of the Voorheesville Volunteer Fire Department and the Tall Timbers and Normanside Country Clubs. He was a very active and devoted member of the Voorheesville First United Methodist Church. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Vera Lasher Schultz and was the father of Reed (Jo-Ann) Schultz of Voorheesville and Bruce (Heidi) Schultz of Roxboro, NC; grandfather of John Schultz, Carolyn (Ronald) McKay, Emily (Daniel) Griffin, Christopher Schultz and Michael Schultz; great-grandfather of Jennifer McKay and Ronald McKay, III; and brother of the late Otto Schultz and Harold Schultz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend William's funeral service at 11:00 o'clock Friday morning at the Voorheesville First United Methodist Church, 68 Maple Rd., Voorheesville, NY 12186. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie. For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Voorheesville First United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
