Colonie - Virginia "Ginny" Ford Shutter died peacefully at home on February 20, 2011. The angels came Sunday morning and left with the beautiful wife of 47 years of Charles "Chuck" Shutter. At her side was her devoted husband Chuck, the love of her life, who took great care of her through her last years of infirmity. Born in Albany, Virginia always put her family at the center of her life. She never missed a chance to tell each person in her family that she loved them. Indeed, her very last words were, "I love you". Ginny was a gifted singer and music was one of her passions. An expert in antique glass, she was a dealer for many years at regional antique shows. She loved to paint as well. In her later years, reading became her main hobby, and she especially liked Stephen King novels and true crime stories. With her husband at her side, Virginia enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and taking them on many memorable outings. She and Charles also enjoyed taking trips across the United States and playing together in bowling leagues. Ginny worked for 25 years at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany, retiring as a head clerk. Her Catholic faith was deeply important to her and she served as a Eucharistic Minister at the former Our Lady of Mercy Church in Colonie. Virginia is survived by her husband Charles; her daughter, Sharon; her grandchildren, Laura, Maureen and Clay; her great-grandchildren, Colby, Charlie, Max and Thomas; and her brother, James Ford. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 o'clock Thursday morning at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie. Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Ginny to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 or your local animal shelter.
