Colonie - James George Wilson died with dignity on Monday, February 7, 2011 after a courageous and brave battle with cancer. Born August 29, 1936 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Thurlow and Evelyn Cummings Wilson. He was a graduate of Colonie Central High School and served in the United States Army . James retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp as Chief Line Foreman after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Niagara Mohawk Pension Club East and the BPOE #2192 of Colonie.
As a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his family was foremost. Giving unselfishly to all, he opened his home and fed and housed many suffering from the disease of addiction and gave to those in need.
His talent for carpentry, building family homes, designing and creating was a gift from his father, now leaving that gift to his son, Jim. An avid golfer, an outing with his best friends Vic, Van, Mike, Frank, Gordie and deceased John K. was his relaxation and greatest enjoyment.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Eleanor "Ellie" Pettograsso Wilson; two daughters, Evelyn Rose and Christine of Colonie; son, James T. of North Creek; grandchildren, Marissa Victoria, Alanna Rose, Maya Janine and MacKenzie Rose; great-grandson, Luca Alex, his pride and joy and love of his life; sister, Marilyn Goodrow of Waterville, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
