Obituary of Carol S. Rea

Rotterdam- Carol Hunter Smith Rea, of Rotterdam, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 with her loving family by her side. Carol was born in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late George and Dorothy Smith. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Michele "Mike" Rea, sisters Janet Vonk and Helen O'Toole, and granddaughter Dana Nicole Rea. She is survived by her children: Kim Rea (Terri) of Princetown, Karyn Armour (Paul) of Amsterdam, and Mark Rea (Andrea) of Rotterdam. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Bret, Kacie and Evan Rea, Nicholas and Elisabeth Armour, and Justin and Joshua Rea. Carol was a former member of the Schenectady Rose Society, Home Bureau, and several quilting groups. She was an active member of the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church until its closing and then became a member of the Eastern Parkway Church. She was a caring person and was a cornerstone of her family as well as an avid animal lover. She was devoted to her two cats and has donated to several animal foundations during her lifetime. Her generous spirit will live on forever in all who knew her. Funeral services will be Wednesday at a time to be announced at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
