Voorheesville - Robert A. Campbell, formerly of Voorheesville, NY, passed away August 23, 2014 surrounded by his family at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy, NY. Born in Albany on November 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Hugh and Margaret Campbell. Robert graduated from Roessleville High School and entered the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Force Policeman from 1954-1958. Upon honorable discharge, he took auto mechanic classes at Hudson Valley Community College and began working for Peerless Midway in Albany. He retired from Peerless Midway after 40 years of dedicated service. Robert was devoted to his family, especially to his beloved wife of 52 years, Eleanor. Bert was genuinely proud of his Scottish heritage, and he had a keen interest in history. He had a life-long love of the outdoors and was happiest fishing or bow hunting in the great Adirondacks. Bert also enjoyed late night poker games with his buddies. He expressed his artistic side through his woodcarvings and furniture making. The thing he treasured most was the time spent with his family relaxing during summer vacations at the beach. In addition to his parents, Robert was pre-deceased by his big brother Hugh and his sister-in-law Joan. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; sister, Heather Smith (Larry) of Huntington Beach, CA; and his daughters, Cynthia Reiss (Timothy) of Loudonville, NY and Melissa Campbell (Ron Bulich) of Greenville, NY. Robert also leaves behind two adored grandchildren, Andrew and Georganna Reiss.
