COLONIE - Jean New Ruth, in her 101st year, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at her home on Cherry St. Born in Ghent, NY, Ruth had lived on Cherry St. for 65 years. She was a self employed beautician for most of her life. Ruth was very active as a volunteer in the local community especially through Christ Our Light Church and the former Church of Our Lady of Mercy, where she was also a Eucharistic Minister. Ruth was the wife of the late Andrew H. Ruth; mother of Paul A. Ruth (Beth) of Colonie and the late Holly Fyvie; mother-in-law of Bill Fyvie of Colonie; grandmother of Gene Fyvie, Holly Ann Nash, Sheri Berhaupt, Robert Ruth, Amber Chaves, Paul Ruth, Jr and Kevin Ruth; great-grandmother of Michael, Brian, Jennifer, Samantha, Billy, Gene, Jessica, Derek, Giana, Shane, Macy, Ayden, Karli and the late Sierra; and sister of the late Stanley New, Faye Hill and Helen Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie. Burial will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home. For those who wish, contributions to the Christ Our Light Church Memorial Fund, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville, NY 12211 would be appreciated.
