Obituary of Shirley Jean Maher

Cohoes - Shirley Jean Maher, 82, of Congress St. died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Community Hospice of Albany Inn at St. Peter's. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Shirley had lived in Albany for many years and in Cohoes for the past nine years. She was employed by New York State for over 40 years, retiring from the Executive Chamber in 1994. Shirley enjoyed music and movies. Judy Garland was one of her favorite actresses. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was known as a kind hearted woman who greeted everyone with the sweetest of smiles. Shirley was the wife of the late Daniel J. Maher; mother of Doreen Maher, Cathleen Maher, Maureen Maher and Terence Maher; grandmother of Mary Maher, Nina Thieu, Bryan Thieu, Chrissy Anderson, Peter Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Harley Hoose, Harlan Hoose, Keelie Moore, Kevin Maher, Daniel Yousef, Adam Yousef and Kiara Maher; great-grandmother of Anna Anderson, Saige Anderson, James Buskey, Jr., Evelyn Pearl Buskey and Olivia Davis; and sister of Duane Cooper. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie with burial in Memory's Garden Cemetery in Colonie.
