Obituary of June Alice Unser

Colonie - June Alice McCleskey Unser, 84, of Colonie passed away peacefully on March 22, 2014 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Marie (Miller) and Ashby McCleskey. She grew up in New Rochelle and moved to Albany as a young adult. She soon married and started her family. She and her late husband Herman, late brother in-law Wilhelm (Bill) Kemp and late Uncle Henry Miller owned and operated the Colonie Star Market on Central Ave. for many years. June enjoyed the busy pace of the market and the many friends and acquaintances she made. She was an avid crafter and gardener. June truly enjoyed vacationing in Maine and walking the Marginal Way, day trips to Vermont, a good meal and shopping. Her true passion was her family. June was a communicant of Christ Our Light Church and a member of the Senior Citizen's Group (formerly St. Francis de Sales). June was the beloved wife of the late Herman J. Unser, beloved mother of Daniel P. Unser of Loudonville, the late Christine Coutant Patterson, Barbara Unser-Fukino (Steven) of Schenectady, John J. Unser (Polly) of Greenfield Center and David M. Unser, Sr. of Colonie; beloved Grandmother to Tucker Fukino, the late Samuel Fukino, Jill Pipino, Michael West, Zachary Unser, Mariana Unser, Barbara Unser and David Unser, Jr.; sister of Marie Bromley of Colonie. She is also survived by several great grandchildren. June's family would like to thank both Atria Guilderland and Atria Shaker for their care and understanding of her challenges these last few years. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Hospice Inn for their compassion and caring in June's final days. Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Angel's Cemetery in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in June's memory to the charity of their choice.
