Audrey L. Fricke, 85, passed away on April 11, 2026 with her beloved husband, Herman by her side.  Audrey was born on November 28, 1940 to Abram and Suzanne (Sager) Ostrander.  She lived and was educated in Albany, where she spent her entire life. 

Audrey married the love of her life and best friend on May 17, 1959. If you were to count their dating years they’d be together for a happy 70 years.  Audrey was an outstanding homemaker who always ensured her family had all their needs  met. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas; she would decorate the house so she could surprise her husband and children when they came home. 

In retirement Audrey and Herman traveled across the country and Canada numerous times. She enjoyed going to Wells, Maine to see the ocean and to enjoy clam chowder and whole fried clams.   She enjoyed people watching and often had little children stop to talk to her.  One little boy liked her so much he wanted her to go with him on his family vacation. Audrey was very fond of all animals, and like the children, animals recognized her tender soul.  Audrey also enjoyed various puzzles, and watching older family shows, while she snacked on various types of candies, especially black licorice.  Above all, Audrey cherished her husband and family and looked forward to visits with them. Audrey was a woman of faith who started each day reading the Bible. 

Although Audrey will be missed deeply by her family and those who knew her, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace with the One who loved us first. 

Audrey is survived by her husband, Herman Fricke, children Nancy (Peter) Ouderkirk and Carl (Stephanie) Fricke. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren, Ben, Gena and Libby and two great grandchildren.  

There will be a funeral on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, on 63 Mountain View Avenue, Albany, NY 12205. There will be no calling hours.
