East Greenbush - Lennon, Marie – The family of Marie Lennon (Caruso) would like to share her passing on January 21, 2026 at the age of 102. Born on September 25, 1923 to her parents Samuel & Sarah Caruso in Whitehall, NY.  She is pre-deceased by her parents as well as her brothers Frank, Joseph & Charles Caruso as well at her late sisters Christine Apple (William), Sally Brown (Floyd), Mary Furman & Janet Hindson.  She was raised in a Catholic Home by Nun’s for her childhood.  She graduated from Catholic Central High School (Troy, NY) in 1941.  Marie’s first job was for a telegraph company.  Later she met her husband, Matthew Lennon in 1948 and they got married on St. Patricks Day in 1949.  She was mom to Rosemary Lennon and a grandmother to Christina (Mark) and a great grandmother (GG) to Cole (10), Luke (8), Noah (6), and Madison (5).  She also has many nieces and nephews that she is survived by. She held other jobs at the Eastern Tablet as well as Albany Billiard Ball and ended her career retiring from the New York State Department of Health in 1989.  After retirement she took care of her granddaughter.  She loved to listen to the radio, both music and radio talk shows as well complete crossword puzzles. She was known for her strong decisive comments and stubborn Italian ways.  She loved to get together with family for a Saturday night get-together with treats or go to a holiday dinner.  She never went anywhere empty handed.

After she was diagnosed with Dementia, she was placed into the care of Van Rensselaer Manor for the additional care that she needed.  She spent almost 12 years in Van Rensselaer Manor and was loved by so many of their staff.

Her funeral mass will will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at St. Mary’s Church, 163 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144.  A calling hour will be held at the church from 9 - 10 a.m., prior to the mass.  Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rensselaer.  In Lieu of flowers please consider making a donation the Alzheimer’s Association or Van Rensselaer Manor in honor of her.
